Fixed income portfolio managers Mark Marinella and Karl Zeile discuss the outlook for U.S. municipal bonds in light of sweeping federal tax changes. They offer their views on whether muni bonds are still attractive under the new tax regime, as well as the importance of fundamental research in a credit-driven market.

Mark Marinella is a fixed income portfolio manager with 33 years of experience, six at Capital Group. Previously, he was head of Capital’s Investment Resources Group as well as a senior manager in fixed income. Prior to joining Capital, Mark was a global chief investment officer for fixed income and currencies at State Street Global Advisors. He holds an MBA from Boston College and a bachelor’s in economics from the University of Massachusetts.

Karl Zeile is a fixed income portfolio manager with 28 years of experience, 19 at Capital. He also serves on the Fixed Income Management Committee. Prior to joining Capital, Karl was an investment analyst with Strong Capital Management and Eaton Vance Management. He holds a master’s in public policy from Harvard University and a bachelor’s degree in economics and humanities from Valparaiso University.
