It spotlights stories people have told one another throughout recorded history that reflect and, Shiller argues, often shape their economic circumstances. Robert Shiller is an economist, academic and bestselling author. He serves as Sterling Professor of Economics at Yale and is a fellow at the Yale School of Management's International Center for Finance. He received his Ph.D. from MIT and his bachelors degree from the University of Michigan. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences jointly with Eugene Fama and Lars Peter Hansen in 2013.

Earlier in his career, as an equity investment analyst at Capital, he covered Asian property and transportation, as well as European transportation and utilities companies. He has an MBA in finance and an MA in French studies from New York University as well as a bachelor's in French from the University of Massachusetts.
